Ahmad completed his PhD in 1995 at the University of Sydney, where he investigated bovine ovarian metabolism. Upon graduation, he was appointed Senior Investigator with a collaborative research program involving several animal health companies and the University of Sydney.
Ahmad then spent four years as a Research Fellow with the University of Melbourne’s Department of Veterinary Science, investigating the interaction between nutrition and reproduction in high producing dairy cows.
He has supervised a number of undergraduate and post-graduate students for their experimental work in the fields of bovine reproduction and nutrition, as well as implementing synchronised artificial breeding programs in dairy herds.
Ahmad has published more than 50 scientific articles in national and international journals and proceedings. He has a particular interest in statistics, including mixed models, risk assessment and meta-analysis.
